How Strong is Your Will Power?

During class, we watched this documentary called “The Guru of Go.” After watching the film, it leaves this feeling in you, and I’m just like wow…that was amazing. In the documentary film, it talked about Hank Gathers. He was a basketball player and a very inspirational person. Hank pushes himself to the limit and doesn’t give up. When he found out that he had an irregular heartbeat, Hank was determined to conquer the problem when it began to affect his playing skills. The medications he took didn’t allow him to perform as well as he should so he began to cut down on the doses. He was risking his life by doing this, but Hank was set on not letting his heart problem stop him from playing even down to his last dunk.ImageIn baking, you shouldn’t let an obstacle stop you from reaching your goals or dreams. Take risks, and if you fail, it’s okay. Failed cupcakes aren’t the end of the world. The only thing you can do is to learn from it and do better next time. However, don’t forget to have fun! One thing Hank Gathers did while playing basketball was that he had fun. He enjoyed himself. When you’re baking, taking risks, and learning from your mistakes, remember to have fun along the way because you don’t know what could happen tomorrow or the next day. Always seize the day. “This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook-try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun.”- Julia Child
