We recently watched a movie called Rocky in class, starring Sylvester Stallone. The movie is about an amateur boxer, Rocky, who’s never actually had a real fight before and is given the chance to fight a well known, heavyweight champion. He is given the opportunity to pursue the American dream, and along the way, he finds love. To prepare for the big fight, Rocky trains all day and night. He never gives up even with all the obstacles thrown at him in life. Rocky tries to look past the negatives and keep moving on. However, while everyone else was pushing him and thinking that his goal was to beat Apollo Creed, Rocky was aiming more than that. He told his girlfriend, Adrian, that he knew he wouldn’t be able to beat the champion, and it was absurd to even think he’d be able to. Continue reading
Many of us have taken our finals already so all I can say is yaaaaaay! It has been such a stressful and tiring week that after finals were over, I literally knocked out…(shows how sleep deprived I was haha). This week in English class was all about comedy. What is the definition of funny anyways? It all depends on a person’s perspective. Everyone sees things differently so while something might seem funny to someone, it might not be funny to someone else. My English teacher gave us a packet to read about all the different types of comedy and techniques used to create comedy. The most important thing he said though was, “You can’t be mean and funny at the same time.” When something is humorous, you want everybody to be able to laugh together, not make someone feel left out and feel bad. Enjoying the fun moment together is way better than being mean to get the laughs.
Have you ever thought what it might be like if the world began to rain food like in the movie “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”? The movie focuses on how the main character, Flint Lockwood, always wanted to make a difference and create something new despite of being discouraged by the people around him. His enthusiasm for inventing is what keeps him motivated to continue. Although many of his creative inventions usually end up in failure, Flint doesn’t give up. When the only source of revenue for the town is gone, Flint takes it as his opportunity to build a machine that would change water into food. However, things turned out differently than what Flint expected. He ended up changing the weather and making it rain food in the town of Swallow Falls!
