Life is Full of Sweet Surprises

Image

So, Mother’s Day is coming up, and I found a fun and unique gift that is great to give to all those moms out there! 🙂 Instead of just giving an ordinary box of chocolates, why not sweeten things up and surprise your mom by using a book to use as a hideout for the candies! (She’ll never see it coming haha) 😛 Just take any book of choice and cut out some pages in the book to put the candies in. I think this idea is the cutest thing ever, and it’s a great way to creatively recycle a book.

You can find out more about how to recreate this idea here:  http://www.brit.co/life-is-like-a-book-of-chocolates/

Pound Cake Perfection :)

Image

I don’t know about you guys, but I love pound cake! We would buy it from the store then stick it in the freezer. (I don’t know…I guess we just like to eat it that way.) 🙂 Usually, we’d just eat the pound cake by itself because it was already yummy originally. However, on some days (which is probably all the time haha), I crave for something sweeter so I’d try to find things to make the dessert even better. I would think of things that pair well with each other for a dessert, and the first thing that would pop into my head is strawberries, bananas, and chocolate. They’re one of my favorite things to pair together. ❤ Think of the pound cake layered with strawberries, bananas, and nutella. Ooooh and maybe some ice cream too! ~yuuuum~ Perfection right there guys. This is a great dessert if you just want something easy and simple to make. Whenever I just want to change up something simple, such as pound cake, I usually go for the fruit and chocolate combo. What about you guys? Do you have a dessert that you like to change up in some way to satisfy your sweet tooth?

“Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover”

Image

Recently, in class, we’ve been reading The Count of Monte Cristo, and I think the story plot is pretty interesting. In the story, the main character has multiple personalities and disguises. The different disguises mask his true identity, and what he portrays on the outside is different from what he thinks on the inside. It’s like what they all say: Don’t judge a book by its cover.

These treats reminded me about the main character in The Count of Monte Cristo. They’re dessert in disguises. 🙂

La fin n’est que le début (The End is just the Beginning)

Recently, in class, we were watching the movie Paths of Glory. In this movie, there were soldiers from France who were sent out to do the impossible, which was to attack the ant hill controlled by the Germans. However, they failed to do so, and 3 of the soldiers were tried in court for being cowards. They were found guilty for “not bravely serving their country.”

Discovering New Things

Image

During English class, we are currently reading A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. It is one of those books where you have to reread it over and over again to understand its contents since there are deeper meanings hidden behind the words. Sometimes, I would read it and wonder what the chapter was about. When you read a book repeatedly, you discover new things. You might find out new things that you never caught before in the text or finally understand the message the story was conveying. Rereading the book is helpful since you might not understand the content now, but after a while, if you read it again, you’ll understand it better when you’re able to relate to the book. You will find a new deeper meaning to the words instead of just simply taking it from the context. When reading A Tale of Two Cities, you have to think outside of the box. Once you understand the content, it’s that moment of pride where you feel like you’ve achieved something.

Let Your Imagination Soar

Image

Recently, my class and I were working on our innovation projects in English. Sometimes, projects could get stressful though over things such as getting things done by the deadline and etc. But, for the innovation project, although we have to worry about those things too, we just had to let our imagination run free. If we let our imagination soar, there’s no telling what could be accomplished! Here are some wonderful innovative treat ideas that people have come up with to recreate, and it only took some creativity and imagination. Hopefully you guys enjoy it!
